It is essential for the surgeon to have good knowledge of anatomy and experience to do the surgery skillfully. It can be done under local anesthesia with I/V sedation or general anesthesia.

microdebrides is a new tool used to do FESS. It comes with a disposable attachment and gives on excellent result post-operatively. Main advantage is less bleeding, removes only the diseased mucosa and preserves the normal mucosa at the same time. It has an excellent result where there is extensive polyps in the sinuses
