October 8th 2005 was probably the
most unfortunate day in the history of Pakistan. A
devastating Earth Quake hit the Northern areas of
Pakistan including Azad Kashmir. As soon as it was
realised that a major disaster had occurred the nation
responded very quickly and strongly.
The team at Doctors Hospital & Medical Centre
didn’t stay behind. Immediate plans were made.
Patients were rescued and transferred from affected
areas on our own ambulances and surgeries were performed
round the clock. The process continued till no more
patients were available for transfer. These Earth
Quake victims very provided with every facility including
international standard operations, hospital stay,
food, clothes, telephone and pocket money. On their
discharge the patients were provided with transport
to the destination of their choice, tents, food, house
hold utensils, medicines and cash- all free of cost.
A number of Earth Quake affected patients ate still
admitted with us for long term treatment.
The discharged patients were issued with I.D cards
for further follow up. More patients are still arriving
on their own, who are accepted and treated with
out any financial burden on them. As an extension
to the project 100-fiberglass Igloo houses have
been ordered and are being delivered across the
snow line. Corrugated sheets have been provided
for 35 houses. In addition 100 steel structure /
fiberglass huts are in process of being made which
will be installed in areas around BALAKOT.
Doctors Hospital & Medical
Centre team has contributed financially also and
is continuously gathering funds from their friends,
relatives and public to make it possible.
We continue to work towards the rehabilitation of
our Earth Quake affected brothers and sisters till
they are back to living their normal lives.
