It stands for Functional Endoscopic Sinus
Surgery. In 1985 Dr. David Kennedy and
Stammberger highlighted the importance
of osteo-meatal complex. All the sinuses
except the sphenoid drained in this area.
The concept of FESS is to preserve the
normal anatomy of the sinuses and remove
the disease only.
